| Areas of specialization are Active Release Techniques soft tissue management system, Graston Technique, chiropractic, Pilates-based exercise rehabilitation/therapy. Main focus is using manual techniques to address soft tissue injuries and then incorporating a home exercise program to facilitate healing and maintain health. Chiropractic adjustments are used to assist in this process. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Chiropractic
Care is
an integral component of your overall health care. The nervous system depends
on feedback from the
joints of the body to run efficiently. Chiropractic adjustments ensure
proper joint function. Chiropractic assists athletes toward peak performance. Muscles and the brain rely on oxygen for strength and endurance. Specific chiropractic adjustments can increase the ability of the lungs to oxygenate blood, which flows to the muscles and brain. Chiropractic is proven to be effective in the treatment of low back pain. Chiropractic adjustments break up adhesions in the spine and deep muscles that form as a result of the inflammation that causes pain. Chiropractic helps manage chronic headaches and migraines. Chiropractic is appropriate for children, elderly, pregnant women, injured workers, and “weekend warriors.” |

| ACTIVE RELEASE
TECHNIQUES‘ Soft
Tissue Management is a state of the art form of manual therapy that addresses
problems caused by damage to muscles, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. How do overuse injuries occur? Soft tissue injuries can result from a sudden tear or sprain, or from repetitive motion (carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis), and/or decreased oxygen to the tissues. How does the body respond to injury? The body responds to injury by releasing inflammatory chemicals and forming fibrous scar tissue called adhesions. Long after an injury has “healed,” the weaker, less elastic tissue remains. Without free range of motion, muscles become shorter and weaker, causing increased tension on tendons, leading to tendonitis. Nerves can become trapped by adhesions, causing tingling, numbness, or weakness. What conditions can ART‘ treat? Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel, plantar fascitis, knee problems, tennis elbow, shoulder pain, and shin splints. |

The Graston
Technique,
originally developed by athletes, is changing the way clinicians, including
athletic trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists, occupational
therapists, and patients view treatment of acute and chronic soft
tissue injuries The Graston Technique offers many advantages and benefits. |

| Deep Tissue Massage is a technique
we use to focus on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. At Integro, we use
it to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes
and deep pressure on, or friction across, the contracted areas. Deep tissue
massage helps break up and eliminate scar tissue. We look for shortened
muscles and/or distorted postural patterns, and with slow, deep strokes,
work to lengthen the muscle fibers, restore balance, and reestablish structural
and functional integrity to the greatest degree possible. Our overarching
goal is to increase the clients' range of motion and to restore their economy
of motion. Sports Massage is a special form of massage that we typically use before, during, and after clients participate in athletic events. The main purpose is to help alleviate our clients' stress and tension that builds up in their bodies' soft tissues during physical activity. When minor injuries and lesions occur as a result of overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. Sports massage also helps prepare the athlete for peak performance, drains away fatigue, relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility and prevents injuries. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger. |

| Exercise rehabilitation methods
utilizing functional exercises which are proving to be most effective at
returning an athlete to his/her sport, or an injured worker back to work
are developed for every patient who comes into Integro. The exercises are
centered around releasing tight and painful symptoms, stretching and strengthening
to encourage more ideal movements. The goal of each program is to develop
posture and stability, which will in turn assist in building strength to
overcome physical challenges in work and athletic pursuits. The focus of all exercises is on quality of movement, and developing functional strength and flexibility so that your body becomes more adept at perform daily activities and hobbies. Core stability is a primary aspect of exercise rehabilitation, and most exercises work from this central aspect out to the rest of the body. From the work of Gary Gray, PT, adapted pilates-based exercise, chiropractic rehabilitation methods, Paul Chek personal training, a specific, personal set of exercises which facilitates soft tissue healing, decreases pain sensation, and effectively prevents re-injury. |

| Pilates is a method of conditioning
that is safe and effective for virtually everyone because there is no undue
stress on the joints, heart, or lungs. Individuals who suffer chronic neck and low back pain, injuries, and/or poor posture benefit from the specific muscle strengthening and joint releasing effects of the exercises. Individuals with osteoporosis and the elderly find that the exercises enhance flexibility, circulation, and increase muscle mass, important factors in preventing osteoporosis. Most of the exercises are carried out on specially designed equipment. The unique equipment creates variable resistances with springs and pulleys that allow muscles to work naturally and without artificial strain. Exercise rehabilitation programs are individually designed for each person based on her or his needs. Each exercise focuses on strengthen ing the body’s essential supporting muscles to develop pelvic and scapular stability. The exercises performed on the reformer are the only exercises that simultaneously develop strength and flexibility. |

| Working with a personal
trainer to monitor your exercise program has many benefits.
One benefit is to insure safety throughout your "Training Program" while
you are performing an exercise. Another is to monitor your form when
you are performing an
exercise. Proper form enables the intended development of the muscle groups
you are exercising. A third benefit of personal training is maintaining
motivation while you are exercising so you continue to achieve your goals. At Integro we take personal training a step farther. Our goal is to prevent injuries, to assist in rehabilitating from injuries when they do occur, and to increase performance by increasing movement efficiency. Our personal training focuses on enhancing functional movement by identifying fitness imbalances, weaknesses, and strengths, and using this information to create a plan to correct imbalances and build on strengths. Our goal is to help you gain flexibility, generate more power with less effort, and be able to do so with less chance of injury. |
